Something More

"The parish is...a community of communities, a sanctuary where the thristy come to drink in the midst of their journey, and a center of constant missionary outreach." -Pope Francis

"The church is not a select circle of the immaculate, but a home where the outcast may come in. It is not a palace with gate attendants and challenging sentinels along the entrance-ways holding off at arm's-length the stranger, but rather a hospital where the broken-hearted may be healed, and where all the weary and troubled may find rest and take counsel together." -James H. Aughey

Thank you for visiting the parish website of Our Lady of Victory and St. Vincent de Paul.   Our mission is  “to repair, restore, rebuild, and minister to those looking for something more”.

My vision for our churches is to be the foremost parish in the community that:

  • Is the spiritual and religious center in the lives of its congregation.
  • Nurtures faith, comfort, and fortitude to help all face life’s challenges.
  • Offers a simplified, personal, “humanized” religion.
  • Puts its congregation first, and not its finances.
  • Has an all-inclusive, non-judgmental congregation with a sense of community.
  • Has no place for politics
  • Is family friendly
  • Has no secrets and can be trusted with confidence.
  • Ministers to all, especially those who are looking for “something more” in life.

Recently, we renewed our identity.  A renewed identity—our “brand” if you will—also calls for a new look.  Our weekly bulletin launches that look with a fresh, modern logo that clearly reflects the unity of our parishes with the graphical letter V which is common to their names.  The logo is accompanied by a new tag line, “Something More”, and a modern rendering of our parish names. There is also our new Facebook page and this refreshed website for you to check out. Up-to-date signage and landscaping are also in the works!

Like a family, we each have a role to play in keeping our parish vibrant.  Hand in hand, we are the life and voice of our parish. We need to “yell from the rooftops” that Our Lady of Victory and St. Vincent de Paul are different, that we openly welcome everyone without judgment. Like Pope Francis, “Who are we to judge?” So, let’s search out those fallen away souls and ask, “Are you looking for something more in life? If so, give us a try.”

Now is the time to go “social” and promote the new banner that characterizes Our Lady of Victory and St. Vincent de Paul: “Something More”.

Let’s support one another as we move forward doing something more...

God Bless and Have a Good Week,

Father Mike
